Trippn', Stumblin', Flippn', Fumblin', Sinkn', Crumblin' & Reachn'

Why I'm awake so early on a Sunday morning is because I just spent the past 4 hours on the phone with my friend E.

Friday night I got the bright idea that I'd start drinking at 5pm. Happy Hour. Mojitos.
I was home, drunk by nine. I spoke to my mom - who immediately knew the situation and gave me her infamous drinking and driving lecture. Then I spoke to SK who finally got some sort of closure on some hella drama that happened last time I was in SA. Speaking of SA - yes, I was supposed to go this weekend but (I think) better judgement told me to stick it out some more and make people miss me. I don't think it'll work.
Because games?
Can't we stop playing them?

Saturday I walked to the movie theater. Uhm hmm. It was a gorgeous Fall day out and I wanted to take it in. I saw 'Notes on a Scandal' and can I say; "WOW".
Dame Dench's narration was phenomenal and a little bit funny here and there. I knew what the film was about according to Cate Blanchet's character but had no idea that Dench's part was even more engrossing - WOW, again.
My goal is to see all the films nominated for an Oscar before the award show. (except Pursuit of Happyness)
Next weekend hopefully I'll catch Babel or Volver. Or both?
FYI - the theater had the best red velvet cupcakes ever. I haven't turned on my KitchenAid in a really long time. I miss her.

Walking back home, I popped into my favorite boutique, Flirt. There was nothing special inside, so I wandered to Ahab Bowen - a funky vintage shop. Its always hit or miss with vintage. Yesterday was a hit. I scored a 1960's silver metallic skirt. It is hot.

Later I watched 'Bandidas' - hilarious. I think Penelope Cruz is the cutest of the cutes and Salma Hayek is funny. Together they were great. And I had no idea Steve Zahn was in it - so that was a pleasant funny surprise. I wonder why the film never made it to the theater?

Then I got to drinking, again. It was very last minute with the same Happy Hour crowd - hold up. At Friday's happy hour I was with my departmental coworkers and they invited their old boss. I heard stories of her which made her sound like some badass. Turns out she is. I immediately fell into like with her. When she called me up for some drinks, I said, sure.
TROUBLE.
The girl lives on a trust fund now, meaning unlimited funds and that meant open bar. Literally.
So, I did what you would do and drank. I felt guilty and gave out a whopping $50 tip to the bartender. I never tip that big - but he sure was putting up with a lot that night.

Drinking interrupts my sleep pattern. That is a given. I stumbled into bed around 2:30am - after I made the room stop spinning. Then a couple hours later I awoke from a bad dream and a stopped heart.
I was consumed with the thought that my crush has a girlfriend.
I couldn't shake the feeling...so I called E.
And let me tell you she has done the very same more times to me than I to her. And she lives in California - so her midnight call is my 2AM wake-up. It was about time she woke her ass up at 2AM to talk me from the crazy ledge.

See, I may need to explain. Last time I was in SA, Boy said something to Girl that shook her core. I was puzzled by it. Very puzzled. And almost to tears because of it. Then I shook it off and continued on. I don't like to dwell. Yeah, riiiiiight.
Last night, a dream verified a thought that I had when he first spoke of his news.
Why would he say something like that to me?
WHY?
And the answer was so easy last night - maybe its because he has a girlfriend?!?

E talked me from the ledge and told me I was reaching for something wrong with him.
Why would I do that?
Because all this time I've been on the crush high because I've been falling for him. And now was the time for me to find something wrong because why would I be so lucky.

She may be right. But just in case, we're gonna get Kate* to write up something so the next time I speak to him I can ask him if he has a girlfriend without sounding like some crazy who never thought to ask him before!

Because we need to know, ASAP. Yes - I am falling for him. The Girl Can't Help It.

*Kate is currently working on script for Girl to ask Boy out for the next time she is in town. AIYEE!!!!

But wait. What did he say that made you wonder? I have to know in order to make an accurate assessment.

Yes, I too need to know what he said to make you wonder that he has a girlfriend. And wouldn't your best friend know if this was indeed true or not?
